November 22, 2010

Hey Everyone! We had a pretty great week! We have two people with a baptism date. One's name is Alicia. She is 9 and is the daughter of a less-active member. Her dad is super excited for her to get baptized! She'll be baptized on the 8th.
On Wednesday, we met with a family. The mom, Joanna is a less-active member. Her son, Isaiah is 15 and is really nice! We read 3 Nephi 11 with him and his mom and he was VERY responsive. At the end of the appointment, he asked what the difference between all of the Christian religions is. We explained to him about the great apostasy and the restoration. He told us that a few years ago he went to a church camp and a guy asked him if he believed in God. He told him yes and then the guy asked him if anyone came to study with him. Isaiah told him that the Mormons sometimes come. The guy went off and said that the Book of Mormon was evil and just taught lies. At this point in our conversation, we looked at Isaiah and asked, "When we were reading the Book of Mormon, Isaiah, did you feel it was evil?" He looked at us and said, "No, it made me want to be a better person. I think I need to get baptized!" Obviously we were thrilled to hear this!!!! So, Isaiah will be baptized hopefully on December 4th! The funniest thing happened as we were leaving. I gave Joanna a hug and then Isaiah came at me with arms wide open for a hug. (He's a really big kid and he towered over me!) I squealed, "I CAN'T HUG BOYS!" hahahahahahahaha!!!!! He was pretty shocked and then I was embarrassed and Sister Abbott tried to explain our rules, but did it horribly! It was pretty funny though!
Both Alicia and Isaiah came to church yesterday! It's so nice to see the promise that Sister Macdonald gave to us about our baptisms being in our less-active members coming true! I could feel it, but we just weren't seeing the fruits of it yet!
I don't think I told you that Shydon ended up moving to Portland, so we lost track of her. She called us yesterday though and told us that she was in town and wanted to come to church. She showed up! She's having a really hard time right now. Her ex-boyfriend beat her until she had a stroke. She was very different yesterday. It was really sad to see her that way. She's struggling pretty bad. We hope to send the missionaries to her in Portland.
I got an AWESOME package from Lindy this week on my half-way day. It was really nice! I'm attaching some pics of Sister Abbott and I with the stuff on! Our area used to have elders until a few months back when the sisters took over the area. We live in the same apartment that the elders lived in, so when they left, they left some of their "boy" stuff behind. There were some suit coats, so for my half-way mark, we burned a suit coat! It stunk really, really bad, but it was lots of fun! I'm attaching some pics of me burning it on the end of a bamboo pole! Well, I hope to hear from you ALL this week! :) I also hope you all have HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!
xoxo
Love,
Sister Losee
