August 30, 2010

Hi everyone!
Ok, so my sister that I wanted to surprise should have gotten the news this week, so now it can go on the blog! I am back to being companions with Sister Smith (from the MTC) and Sister Kaufusi (from Corvallis)! We are in a trio, which is difficult, but we can do it. Communication is key, that's something I've learned over and over again! We have a lot of BIG plans for the area! I have a feeling I'm not going to be here much longer, so I want to sprint to the end of my time in Springfield (and on my mission!). There's a talk that I've been studying by Brent L. Topp; it's called "What's on the other side?". In it, it gives accounts from lds people and non-lds people about experience with the Spirit World. It talks about how everyone in the Spirit World is running around being busy, because there is so much work to be done. It says that all of the dispensations of time have had responsibilites to prepare the World for the Savior's second coming. The other dispensations have had time to prepare, except for ours, so we should all be hastening to prepare. It really helps me want to work my hardest. I was also studying in Moroni 9:6 and that scripture really pushed me to do more also! We have a GREAT work to do and not much time to do it! Let's get to work! Are you with me?! :)
Jill is getting baptized on the 10th! We went over to her house last Sunday and we were talking to her. She said that she's considering getting baptized before the baby is born, because she wants her baby to be born to 2 parents who both are baptized. She still was really scared though, because she got baptized last year into another church and as she stood to say a few words, she dedicated her last pregnancy to the Lord. Well, she lost the baby 2 weeks later and she's worried that will happen again. We assured her it wouldn't and then we showed her Ether 12:6 and told her this is the trial of her faith. The next day, she decided that she would go ahead with the baptism on the 10th! Yay!

We have another investigator named Stacy. Stacy's husband, Mike, is a member. Stacy was investigating a few months back, but wouldn't pray about the church or move forward at all, so we had to bench her. The problem was that she just wanted to be baptized, but she didn't understand about authority and couldn't grasp the meaning, because she wouldn't pray about it. Sister Macdonald gave me some really awesome advice, as did President Macdonald. We scheduled a time to meet with Stacy and Mike. We pretty much told them what they were expected to have a testimony of in order to be baptized and told her that in order to gain that testimony she would need to pray. She said she would. We went back to meet with her last week and we set a baptism date for September 25th!

A few weeks back, we went to visit less-active members with our Relief Society president, Sister Sorter. We visited this one house and through a lot of confusion, ended up picking up the neighbor as a new investigator and then the next day, the less-active member's boyfriend called us and told us that he had taken the lessons a few times before, but that he is now ready to be baptized! His name is Steve. He's a pretty funny guy! A lot of experiences! He and Annette (his girlfriend) will be getting married on Saturday and then he will be baptized on the 25th! We're very, very excited!

Steve's neighbor, Anthony is an investigator now too. We were able to teach him this week and HE IS SO COOL!!!!! He was raised baptist, so it was pretty fun saying a prayer with him! He agreed with all that we discussed with him (Lesson 1). We're really excited to meet with him this week again! The Spirit was so strong as we spoke with him! It was AWESOME!!!!

We went up to Oakridge this weekend. My goal with this new transfer is to not tell my new companions anything negative about either of our areas. I found that, that was part of the problem when I first got here was that I heard all of the negatives and it made it really hard to want to be up in Oakridge. I noticed that as I told them all of the positives about the area, my attitude improved! I actually look forward to being in Oakridge now. I want to see what we can do with the area. It has so much potential and I feel good about it! We just got a call from the Activites Committee Leader; we're planning a "Missionary Night" with the branch for the 23rd! I'm super excited about it! It will be great!

Oh, so about the Apostle... Elder Bednar is coming on September 11th to talk to our mission! Yay! I'm very excited about this!

Well, I love you all! Have a GREAT week and I look forward to hearing from you all! :)
Love,
Sister Losee
